Understanding Agent Source Types

When you create an agent, the first thing Alsona asks is where prospects should come from. There are four sources. You can add more than one to the same agent later.

Understanding Agent Source Types in Alsona

When you create an agent in Alsona, you’ll be asked to choose a source type - this tells Alsona where your lead list is coming from.

Each source works a little differently, so here’s what each one means and when to use it.

1. 360 Signal Search

What it is. The agent continuously scans the web for buying signals, researches each company it finds, identifies the right decision-maker, and drafts outreach when something meaningful happens. Unlike a list-based source, it never runs out. It keeps finding new prospects as new signals appear.

When to use it. Whenever you care more about timing than volume. A company that just posted three roles in your buyer's function, or started running ads, or had a review spike, is a better prospect this week than the same company was last month.

What you configure. Intent signals (31 sources across nine categories), your ideal customer profile, and an opportunity score threshold that decides how strong a match has to be before you see it.

2. LinkedIn

What it is. Pull profiles from LinkedIn or Sales Navigator. There are four ways to do it.

Type

What it takes

When to use it

Search URL

A LinkedIn or Sales Navigator people-search URL, copied from your address bar

You have already built the audience with LinkedIn filters and want to work that list.

Post Reactions

A post URL or a profile URL, plus how many recent posts to look back through (1 to 100)

You want people who engaged with a specific post or with a specific person's content. Optionally skip reposts.

Event

A connected LinkedIn account, then pick from events that account registered for

You attended an event and want to reach the other attendees.

Group

A connected LinkedIn account, then pick from groups that account joined

You want a niche audience that self-selected into a community.

Sales Navigator search URLs only work on senders that have a Sales Navigator subscription. A standard people search works on any paid LinkedIn plan.

LinkedIn Search URL

What it is:
This option is for when you’ve done a people search directly on LinkedIn or Sales Navigator — for example, filtering by title, location, or company.

How to use it:

  1. Go to LinkedIn or Sales Navigator.

  2. Perform your search (e.g., “Marketing Directors in SaaS, United States”).

  3. Copy the full URL from your browser’s address bar.

  4. Paste it into Alsona as your source.

Tip:
You can use any LinkedIn or Sales Navigator search URL, including advanced filters like company headcount, geography, or seniority level.

2. LinkedIn Event URL

What it is:
This option lets you target people who are attending, interested in, or hosting a LinkedIn event.

How to use it:

  1. Open the LinkedIn event page.

  2. Copy the event URL (it usually looks like linkedin.com/events/...).

  3. Paste it into Alsona.

Tip:
Event audiences tend to be highly engaged — great for outreach around shared interests or timely topics.

3. LinkedIn Group URL

What it is:
Use this when you want to source leads from a LinkedIn group — a community of professionals with shared interests.

How to use it:

  1. Visit the group page on LinkedIn.

  2. Copy the group’s URL.

  3. Paste it into Alsona.

Tip:
Targeting by group can be powerful for niche audiences — e.g., “B2B SaaS Founders” or “Recruiters in Tech.”

4. From Existing Agent

What it is:
This pulls leads from a previous Alsona agent you’ve already created.

How to use it:

  1. Select the existing agent you want to source from.

  2. In the Advanced Filtering section, choose whether to include or exclude profiles already contacted.

Important:
If you want to include everyone — even those who were already reached — make sure to check “Include locked profiles.”

Tip:
Perfect for cloning successful agent or retargeting previously contacted leads with new messaging.

5. Import Profiles (CSV Upload)

What it is:
This option lets you upload a CSV file with your own list of prospects.

How to use it:

  1. Prepare your CSV file with columns containing:

    • LinkedIn profile URLs (https://linkedin.com/in/...)

    • and/or email addresses

  2. Upload it directly into Alsona.

Tip:
Ideal for using data from external sources (e.g., list builders, CRM exports, or manual research).

6. Integrations

What it is:
This source type allows you to pull contacts directly from your connected integrations.

How it works:
Once selected, Alsona will display all integrations that are currently active on your account. Each integration has its own dedicated view, showing the contacts available from that specific platform.

From here, you can:

  • Select contacts from the integration

  • Pull them directly into Alsona

  • Create a agent using those contacts as the source

Tip:
This is the best option if you want to launch agent using contacts already living in your existing tools, without exporting or uploading CSVs.

Best Practices

  • Always double-check that your URLs start with https://linkedin.com/… before uploading.

  • Use meaningful agent names so you can easily find them later.

  • Combine sources strategically — for example, start with a LinkedIn search, then import event attendees to expand your reach.
